Learn to create this elegant evening bag using machine and hand embroidery with wash away stabilizers, braids and treasured pieces of sheer and exotic fabrics and ribbons.  Students will make hand made cords and baubles whilst learning a variety of hand embroidery stitches and applying beads, sequins and special bits and bobs.  We will finish with assembly of the bag ready for that flash night out on the town. 

Skill level: Some knowledge of free motion machine embroidery & basic sewing machine skills.

Strict tool requirement:  Well serviced sewing machine which will handle free motion embroidery including appropriate machine foot (or stippling for you quilters).  Use a Metafil or Top Stitch needle size 14/90. Please test your machine well prior to class.

This workshop is a gentle exploration into mixed media whilst creating a beautiful journal or album for your keepsake embroideries, journaling and photos. Story telling is an integral part of our needle work traditions and your personalized photo will begin your story. We will work with artist's canvas, tissue serviettes, tissuetex, PVA glue to make paper fabric which is very strong for the cover. Dabble with a little needle felting, hand embroidery, applique, beading, lumiere paints and embossing of beautiful hand made paper.

Skill level: Basic sewing machine skills

During this one day workshop students will learn to needle felt using wool and a mixture of fabrics using an hand needle felter. Each student will have a small turn on an embellisher (needle felt) machine as well. We will also use traditional wet felting for one of the flowers. Some basic hand embroidery and embellishments will ensure the needle felting is stable for the practical use of this pouch.
