THE GUILDED NEEDLECASE - 2 day workshop

This Victoriana rich needle case is well worn and well loved as I have been using it for over 10 years now. It is very practical in it's layout and very beautiful in its' old worldliness. This project is perfect for learning foundational ribbon embroidery using three widths of silk ribbon and stitching with a variety of silk threads, couching, beading and cord makding. As this was made so long ago some of the products are no longer available such as the braid meandering across the centre of the embroidered panel, the braid framing the panel and the damask outer fabric. Rest assured I will source some beautiful replacements. We will us my hand dyed velvet as the outer fabric. To colours will be available in the velvet. Plum or Arabian Nights.

BOHEMIAN BAUBLES - A one day workshop

In this workshop you will create a range of baubles using a variety of techniques to make a necklace.  The techniques include embroidery, gold embroidery work using a variety of products, fabric, beads, felt, sadi threads and more.   We will only make one of each of the components but you will be confident to finish it at home.   A good fun class.  These baubles can be expanded upon and used for many uses not just jewellery. All skill levels welcome.

Le Jardin Collection - We will explore how a wide range of different fabrics & stitching respond to the wet felting process. Incredible texture will be achieved in this montage of fibres and fabrics. The hand felted panels will be pieced as panels into the main bag structure. The structure of the bag is achieved by stiffening fabric & commercially made felt to create a strong and versatile bag. The assembly is straight forward and does require machine stitching.

This is a felter's sampler bag in that we will play with many fibres and fabrics creating many different effects. We explore the effects of needle felting, applying lace and embroidery before we actually wet felt. Enjoy the process of combining hand made cords and all kinds of felting finishing with a unique spiral handle.

STRATOSPHERE BASKET & LE JARDIN BAG COLLECTION - Two day workshop
Koala Convention workshop dates: Mon 2nd & Tues 3rd July
I will be teaching two different felting projects during this class. You will need to nominate your choice at the time of booking in for the workshop.

Choice 1- Stratosphere basket Choice 2 - Le Jardin Collection

1. Stratosphere Basket - In this class you will learn how to mould felt to retain the desired shape. We will felt with a variety of fibres, fabrics & yarns including the creation of a raised surface. We will be embroidering prior to felting so the threads embed in the felt. We will keep the underlying colour black but there will be a choice of colour for the embellishing fibres available in class to give each student a unique basket. Kit Cost: AU$140.

2. Le Jardin Collection - We will explore how a wide range of different fabrics & stitching respond to the wet felting process. Incredible texture will be achieved in this montage of fibres and fabrics. The hand felted panels will be pieced as panels into the main bag structure. The structure of the bag is achieved by stiffening fabric & commercially made felt to create a strong and versatile bag. The assembly is straight forward and does require machine stitching. ILLUMINATED FRAGMENTS - Two day workshop
Koala Convention workshop dates: Thurs 5th & Fri 6th July

In this workshop we will learn to transfer the text, paint (antique) laces, layer fabrics and us a variety of threads & beading.  We will do a touch of free motion embroidery to create a new approach to ancient illuminated manuscripts.  It is all about making it look antique & worn.  Instructions will be provided for framing.
Finished framed piece: 40cm square Kit Cost: $140.

HAND FELTED LANDSCAPE PANEL - 2 day workshop

Create this colourful and creative panel that could be made into a cushion or a beautiful tote bag for quilts or sewing/embroidery kits. In this workshop during day 1 you will learn how to pre-felt shapes, felt in fibres and yarns use a needle felter and really play with colour in a painterly fashion.
During day 2 you will be playing with yarns and learning an array of hand embroidered flowers and basic beading. Once completed the panel may be used in the format that the students desire. The finished size of the design is 50cm x 50cm .

Chantilly Lace Bag Collection - 2 day workshop

In this workshop you will create exquisite fine free motion machined embroidered lace, working with washaway stabilizer fabric.  After constructing the bag base from beautiful hand dyed velvet we will explore different ribbon techniques for the flower arrangement and make groovy buds with sadi threads, beads and sequins.  We finish by making special cords & handle.

Skill level: Ability to free motion machine embroider or stipple.

A Secret Garden Two days - Inquiries welcome

This is a time to let the little girl out to play, wonder and allow your imagination to run wild as you create a magical secret garden. We will explore a range of techniques to create texture and colour. Starting with hand needle felting which is simple and easy making great texture. We will paint and play with tyvek paper and lace fabric to create different surfaces and form. Applique beautiful hand dyed laces and embroider a delightful garden using many different threads, ribbons and a few surprises. Ribbon, Stump work and needle weaving are just some of the embroidery techniques we will be playing with.
Dabble with some simple machine embroidery of of course finish with beading.

The panel is approximately 25cm x 30cms.

All skill levels welcome.

Hand Felted Bag Collection - 2 day workshop

During day one you will make the bag foundation learning how to hand felt using pure Merino wool, silk tops and a range of fabrics & lace to add rich texture.  Day two you will embellish the bag with hand embroidery and beading, finished with machine assembly.  All products used are hand dyed and some painted to give your work that wondrous colour play.  Finished size not including the handles 30cmX30cm.

Skill level: Good shoulders, arms & sense of humour. Big felting first day.

RUBYS' SECRETS - 2 day workshop
Rubys' Secrets Evening Bag

In this two day workshop you will make a unique evening purse. You will enjoy the
colour play created as you use Colour Streams hand dyed silk fabrics, lace, velvet,
braids, silk ribbons and threads. You will learn to create a rich textural surface with
layers of lace, braids and manipulated fabrics. Explore different embellishing
techniques with hand embroidery including basic ribbon embroidery.
Students will make beautiful hand made cords and baubles using simple embroidery
and beading techinques to great advantage. This evening purse is not only georgeous
but also very functional.

HEART FELT CHATELAINE - 2 day workshop - INQUIRIES WELCOME

You will make a unique needle case & scissor keep out of hand dyed pure wool felt. Enjoy the colour play created when using hand dyed felt, lace, velvet, braids, silk ribbons & threads. Learn to create a rich textural surface with different layers of lace, appliqued velvet & braides embellishing it with hand embroidery and beading. To make it your very own, students will stitch in a signature photo of somone or something very important or inspirational in their life. My needle case has a photo of my mum, aunt & uncle.
